John's experience working on varied types of projects using a wide array of delivery methods gives him the rich background required to help today's demanding clients meet their diverse and complex needs. In addition to work acquisition, he maintains effective ongoing business relationships with key clients. He is also actively involved in developing the company's management professionals.
Expertise
As a member of a family that owned and operated a general construction company, John literally grew up in the contracting business. After his college graduation, he spent eight years building municipal, water and wastewater treatment facilities across the United States. In 1992, he joined Trautman and Shreve during construction of the new Denver International Airport, managing lump sum and design/build guaranteed maximum price projects. In addition, his resume includes hard bid, design/assist, other design/build and numerous fast-track mechanical projects. Most recently, he was the project executive on the new replacement laboratory at the Center for Disease Control in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Holder of a bachelor's degree in construction engineering from Iowa State University, John is actively involved in numerous professional groups, including the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) and Associated General Contractors (AGC). In cooperation with the local MCAA chapter, he also spends a semester each year teaching mechanical contracting to seniors in Colorado State University's construction management program.
The Personal Side
Spending quality time with his family is one of John's core strengths, so he cherishes his time with his wife Julie and three sons, Kevin, Nathan and Brian. He also engages in a range of outdoor activities, including hunting, hiking, camping and boating. In addition, he enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with his friends and extended family.
