PALMER CENTER FACILITY BACKGROUND

The Center is named after the founder of Colorado Springs, General William Jackson Palmer, a Civil War hero from Pennsylvania and founder of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. It was he who laid out the first city plans for Colorado Springs, envisioning it as a resort center. He achieved his goal so well that the city's first nickname was "little London."
