Mechanical Construction: HVAC & Plumbing Systems Installation
TRAUTMAN & SHREVE VALUE DELIVERED
Intense coordination was required for the installation of the mechanical piping and industrial HVAC ductwork. The building is composed of solid rock walls, a very high ceiling and vast open areas. Maneuvering through the ceilings and around the walls and open areas required extensive coordination. To insure all installations were 100% accurate, we utilized 3-D CAD coordination drawings with collision checks.
MECHANICAL, HVAC & PLUMBING SYSTEMS SCOPE OF WORK
This distinctive mechanical construction project involved the installation of a full range of mechanical and plumbing systems. These HVAC systems included two centrifugal water chillers that deliver 250 tons of cooling each, two heating boilers delivering 3600 MBH each for heating water, and two steam boilers for humidification delivering 1600 MBH each. The main commercial heating and cooling system included a "whisper quiet" air handling unit that delivers 100,000 CFM of conditioned air to the main portion of the building, including the 31,000 square-feet of galleries. In conjunction with the steam boilers, this heating, ventilation and air conditioning system also provided the requirements for humidification in these areas. Especially challenging was an under floor system for air delivery in the theatre. The third unit brought 12,000 CFM to the kitchen areas. A state-of-the-art, digital control building management system handles the operation of all mechanical systems.
BACKGROUND
RE/MAX International Inc. sponsored the Wildlife Experience with concern for the habitat of wildlife. The site for the Wildlife Experience was donated, in part, by the Denver Tech Center/Meridian International Business Center. The success of this mechanical construction project was accomplished through donations and sponsorships.
OBJECTIVES
To create the Wildlife Experience as a program dedicated to promoting the understanding of the Natural World and its conservation through art, education and community.
MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS
Required in all the high ceiling work was the use of our "Fall Protection Program." This program illustrated our commitment to safety throughout this project. A highly competent site safety coordinator was assigned to identify all hazards prior to commencement of mechani
