MECHANICAL SERVICES SCOPE OF WORK
The mechanical construction services project consisted of a four-story, 141,600 square-foot office building, with daycare center, community rooms, and office space for county agencies. Mechanical services included the installation of four packaged rooftop commercial HVAC units delivering over 170,000 CFM of conditioned air to the building. The supply ducting from these units included a unique plenum construction on the roof. The plumbing system includes 10 public restrooms with over 100 fixtures.
BACKGROUND
Established in 1902 as Colorado's first county, Arapahoe County is home to 500,000 residents and 1,755 county employees.
CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OBJECTIVES
In the attempt to meet the community's service needs, offices were necessary for the County Attorney, Human Services, and County Assessor.
DESIGN/ASSIST & BIM SOLUTIONS
The original mechanical construction services project required Trautman & Shreve, Inc. to take the lead with the design/assist services, which included the development of 3-D CAD fully coordinated drawings. These BIM (Building Information Modeling) diagrams included schematics for structural, electrical, fire protection, mechanical and plumbing systems. In doing so, Trautman & Shreve, Inc. identified architectural, structural, and other discipline conflicts to coordinate proper mechanical construction documentation prior to construction. This provided significant efficiencies in the field through a maximized fabrication process while eliminating the need for rework.
